About Us
Kevin McCarthy has been involved in missionary education for over 35 years with the Unification Church and the Family Federation. He has pastored the main National Cathedral of the Unification Church in Washington D.C. from 1992 until 1996 and then again from 2001 until 2005.
Kevin has served as past national director of the Interdenominational Conference of Clergy and was the main lecturer from 1983 to 1988 in a series of interdenominational conferences involving over 7000 clergy of virtually every denomination.
From 1995 until today, Kevin McCarthy has continued to be involved in the ongoing dialogue between clergy of all faiths. He has lectured and conferred with over 10,000 clergy by 2008. Recently, Kevin was the featured lecturer at the American Clergy Leadership Conference held in New Orleans in October of 2008.
The Master Plan is Kevin's third book. His first was titled "The 500 questions asked by clergy about the Divine Principle and the Unification Movement." His second book was titled "The Blood-Stained Voice."
In the past year, Kevin has also headed up the team, under the direction of Mr. Jim Flynn, that developed the American Leadership Conference curriculum entitled "America at a Crossroads," a five presentation curriculum now being taught in every state in America. You can see it at www.foundingspirit.org
Also, in the last year Kevin has co-written with Pastor Hiroshi Goto and produced a 5 volume Small Group Study Series, Principle-Centered Living. This material is also being used all over the country.
Kevin was blessed in marriage with his wife Carol at a ceremony held in Madison Square Garden on July 1, 1982 and officiated by the Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon. Kevin and Carol have four children.
The Master Plan is dedicated to Rev. Sun Myung Moon and is an explanation of the Biblical teachings brought to America by Rev. Moon and the first Korean missionaries. Because of great misunderstanding, language problems and other cultural and racial barriers, Rev. Moon's teachings have been greatly misunderstood and distorted. The Master Plan is an effort to show the solid Biblical foundation for the assertions of the Divine Principle.

You live your life. It unfolds, day after day, year by year. However, when you were a child, everything seemed fresh and new. The aroma of freshly cut grass, the bursting of life in early spring, the celebration of early warmth emerging from its wintry cocoon. It was all unfolding around you and each new thing resonated with your new life; accenting its shape, its textures.
A year seemed much longer back then. . .it was fraught with more living, new unknowns discovered in explosions of excitement and awe. A sunflower must be a giant's flower, a hummingbird hovers in mid-air, or you can hide in the highest reaches of a magnolia tree and no one will ever see you. Its deep green leaves, thick and broad provide cover. Its fat ample limbs provide a firm foundation for sitting. You don't just climb a magnolia, you sail a magnolia. . . you sail. Its luscious white flower sweetness is caught by the wind. Its fragrance passes by through the leaves as the branches sway. I've sailed many a magnolia.
What's this have to do with The Master Plan. . .Well, I'm not sure. ..Except that maybe when I was on top of an old southern magnolia, and the sun was shining, the wind was blowing, things seemed clearer. From up there, I could see my whole world and I could think; think about my life and what it meant to be living. I could ask God questions and, somehow, he would answer me. It seemed like God communicated better when I was sitting up there. Maybe it was just that I could hear better.
That's the connection, I guess. I want The Master Plan to help you as you think about life. I want it to inspire you to question and see if you don't start to hear clear answers the next time you sail a magnolia.
Enjoy,
