Chapter Fourteen

Today, many people are thirsty for knowledge about the heavenly world, and they seek out all manner of sources, some of dubious worth. A reliable source would be someone whom God has chosen to convey His message, for genuine prophecy “edifies the church” (1 Cor. 14:4). Acts 2:17-21 reveals that in the last days, “I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophesy… and I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth.” This text indicates that the Spirit will move gifted individuals to have visions of the spirit world, showing people on Earth the wonders of Heaven. It also indicates that God’s activity may encompass both realms. A study of the book of Zechariah, for instance, shows that prophets sometimes worked with heavenly spirits to better grasp the meaning of their revelations.
These revelations of the latter-day reorganization of Heaven and Hell are being conveyed through two chosen individuals, one to work in Heaven and the other to report about this work to people on the Earth. Dr. Sung Han Lee was born in Korea in 1914 and passed into the spirit world at age 84. Trained as a physician at what is now Yonsei University Medical School, he set aside medicine and turned to philosophy after he and his wife joined the Unification Church. He is best known for his critique and counterproposal to Marxism-Leninism that was widely disseminated around the world during the Cold War period.
A tireless teacher of God’s truth, Dr. Lee educated countless atheists and believers of various religions. Dr. Lee’s earthly counterpart is Young Soon Kim, who is graced with the gifts of spiritual hearing and spiritual sight. While in the Spirit she is able to hear Dr. Lee’s narrative and record it on paper for earthly people to read.
At a time when religious conflict seems rampant on Earth, this vision of the gathering of Heaven’s forces united as one mind under the one God comes as a welcome message of hope. The heavenly figures who testify in these pages are united in their determination that “God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” It remains for us to living on Earth to do the same.
Knowing that this information is new and unusual to many readers, we encourage you to digest it with a prayerful yet open mind. Much of its contents may be challenging, particularly as it concerns the Second Coming of Christ. Therefore, by way of orientation, we offer some additional explanation.
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST IN OUR TIME
When will Christ come again? Jesus said that we couldn’t know. In Matthew 24:36, “Of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in Heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” However, in Amos 3:7, we see that God does nothing without revealing his secrets to “his servants the prophets.”
This would seem to suggest that God will give us a “heads-up” before he sends Christ again. In fact, we can see that Jesus goes to great lengths to clearly describe the “signs” of the time to which Christ returns. Evidently, Jesus expects the generation of Christians alive at that time to be able to identify the moment and stand at the ready.
Most preachers’ favorite sermon is the one that proclaims the second coming of Christ as the culminating hope of our faith. What believer cannot be stirred by the rendering of the “signs of the times” mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 24 and the report of their fulfillment, one by one, in our time. In fact, one of the signs of the times that Jesus mentioned was, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matt. 24:14) Clearly, this didn’t happen until the end of the 20th century.
From the standpoint of the “signs,” there is good reason to conclude that our generation is the one that will be on the earth when Christ returns. In a modern world whose airwaves are more and more dominated by news of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons of mass destruction and the likelihood of their use, it is most welcomed news.
Consider that Jesus spoke a message in Matthew 24 that would be relevant to only one generation. It is very clear that Jesus wanted Christians of that single generation to be aware of the special age in which they lived, and to be prepared for the Second Coming. Why else would the Lord be so adamant about describing the signs of that age and urging that generation to be on the alert?
Is it to prepare for the rapture? Yet what special preparation does one need beyond traditional faith in Christ to participate in that sudden event?
Is it because the final judgment will occur? But doesn’t accepting or rejecting Christ before one dies just as conclusively judge every generation?
Or could it be that the particular generation on earth at the time of Christ’s return will be faced with a unique responsibility, a responsibility never faced by any previous generation of Christians? Could Jesus’ urgency be reflective of the fact that there are possible unprecedented benefits as well as adverse consequences if that generation fulfills or fails to recognize its unique historical role?
This is where learning from history is vital. As it has been said, “those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Never has that been truer than for this generation of Christians.
