The Master Plan
"stunning. . . I was riveted to every page"
Chapter One
The Principle of Creation
St. Paul said that God was revealed in the things that he has made. God is the artist and has expressed himself in the beauty of his work of art, i.e. the created universe. What does it reveal? A God of love, a God of compassion who's destiny is to find you and share his love.
Chapter Two
The Human Fall
It wasn't the apple in the tree. . .it was . . .you know the rest. The woes of consuming bad produce notwithstanding, the story of the human fall is the story of the breakdown of the first serious relationship between a man and a woman. It is replete with lies, betrayal and selfish sex. . .not unlike the last episode of "Desperate Housewives."
Chapter Three
A Good God---an Evil World
It's the age-old question redux: If God is almighty, all-knowing and omniscient, then how in the name of God is this world in such a mess? Why doesn't God come down here and do something about it? And while he's down here, how about getting that guy Dawkins to shut his big yapper!
The Principle of Restoration
Chapter Four
God helps those who help themselves. God didn't sin, we did. Thus, we must play a role in reversing the consequences of sin. Why doesn't God come down and fix this world? God could ask the same question of us, "why don't you do something about this world?. ." and you don't even need to "come down here" you're here already!
Chapter by Chapter Synopsis
Chapter Five
Noah and Abraham
The story of Noah & Abraham has been told for centuries as mere anecdotes, a prelude to the arrival of Jesus, somewhat like the previews before a movie. As Seinfeld would say, "who are these people?" Why didn't God just send the "big hitter" from the get go? I mean, I like Noah just fine, but I know Jesus and, Noah, you're no Jesus!
Chapter Six
Moses
So Moses and Jesus were on the first tee when. . okay, write you own joke. . .Jesus once said "had you listened to Moses, you would have listened to me." In that one statement, Jesus reveals a great unknown truth: Moses' mission was to establish a nation that was intended to recognize and embrace their King!
The Law and all of the Prophets
Chapter Seven
God told the people of Israel that "if" they kept faith, they would be blessed. But "if" they did not, they would be cursed; to which the Israelites said, "what's all this "if" business, O all-knowing God? And God answered, "I'm God, not David Blaine." God was telling them that they would play an integral role in achieving their destiny (as you do in yours!)
Chapter Eight
The Change of Blood Lineage
Imagine you're suddenly pregnant and have to explain to your fiance you're with child. "Relax, honey, it was the work of the Holy Spirit!". . .right! But the real news was that it wasn't just the mode of conception that affected the sinless birth of Christ. . .there was an equally significant work carried out over the course of Jesus' entire lineage.
The Mission of Jesus
Chapter Nine
The night before his death on the cross, Jesus prayed "if it be possible. . .let this cup pass." He obviously didn't get the memo that he should just die for us and try to be happy about it. We've been apologizing for his prayer ever since. Jesus gave his life. Was it the life of a confirmed bachelor, or did he also sacrifice more than we have ever known?
Chapter Ten
Jesus and John the Baptist
Jesus implored his disciples saying, "the harvest is great, but the laborers are few." So where were all the laborers? Didn't Gabriel proclaim that John was to "make a people prepared for the Lord?" So. . John. ..what happened? Where's the people prepared for the Lord?. . . John? . . .Hello?. . . I'm waiting. . .
Chapter Eleven
Resurrection
Jesus said, "let the dead bury the dead" indicating that there are two types of "life" and "death." Paul tells us that we have two bodies, a "natural body" and a "spiritual body". . .and it is this body that is "raised from the dead.". . .
Alex, that would be spiritual body, . .(sorry, not in the form of a question!)
Chapter Twelve
Christology
Some Christians believe that Jesus is God the Creator himself, while others believe that Jesus is strictly a human, while still others believe that Jesus is God AND human. . . So sit back, grab your popcorn, boys. . cause what we have here is all the makings of a good ol fashion Christian throw down!. .LLLLLLet's get ready to Rum-bbbbbbbblllllllleeeeeee!
Chapter Thirteen
The Last Days
Some believers are anticipating the "end of the world" when the "elements will melt with fire." And you thought the real estate market couldn't get any worse! Do all these tribulations in the world portent great changes? Is "the end of the age" also the hopeful beginning of a new one; an age that is radically different from all the past?
Chapter Fourteen
How will Jesus return? That's the most divisive theological issue. There are three possibilities concerning doctrines of Christ's return: 1. Somebody is right, and everybody else is wrong. 2. Everybody is a little right and a little wrong, and 3. Everybody is WRONG! The good news is that Jesus explains clearly, the bad news is nobody's listening!
